I like to add potted plants, trees, and vines that grow down walls for decoration, carpeting to decorate the roof edges or flooring, and use green wool blocks to simulate astroturf for replacing the ugly grass block's color in swamp biomes. Other ideas are using glass blocks for glass floorings on higher levels than the floor level and roof tops - so that you dont have use so many torches or glowstone blocks to light up the interior. Theres no wrong way.... just see what works for you.
