This project belongs to our main project, the Empire of Castaire.
The Grande École du Célestin V is one of the earliest buildings of the new school system. After his coronation in 1614 AC, Célestin V was confronted with a lack of education in his country. The new formed production branches and the traditional ones complained that it took too long to teach their apprentices even the basics of their job. In wise foresight the Empereur, together with some of his best consultants, developed a new school system. After a few months of consideration and improving the findings, the Empereur presented a new system with 10 years mandatory school and a secondary school after graduation from 10th class upwards. This new school extended the education time for 2 more years where the students should learn more theoretical input for higher qualified professions. In 1615 AC the emperor started renewing most of the old schools in Lucrécy and other cities in his country. At the Place de l'Empereur and facing the new market he build the first secondary school. After just 2 years the bulding was completete and is since then home for over 500 students, a gym and an auditorium. The manufactories were satisfied and after just 5 years the first graduates started their careers and were done with acquiring profession much faster. The whole economy of Castaire profited from his wise decision. But regarding to his short time of regency he was unable to see the long-term success of this system. The school survived a century nearly unchanged and is now named after his founder Célestin V. Nowadays there are some more «secondary schools » which are more like apprentice schools formed and lead by the guild of the concerned branch. To educate his population even more for a deeper understanding of the world, current Empereur Steve I Stéphane founded the first Imperial Academy and constructed a whole complex at the rim of the city. In this university the students where taught in medicin, law, mathematics, music and art.
As a result of it’s location the building frame turned out pretty vivid. It shares two walls with buildings, one with the police presidium and another one with the entrance arc of the market. Its front is directed to the Place de l'Empereur and the entrance is surmounted by a dome and a golden plaque showing the name and foundation date. The market facade is dominated by the highest structure of the complex, a high spiring tower, which once had a clock, but it was removed after finishing the Harald-Glööckler-Institute which had a clocktower for it’s own in sight of the school. The third side is located between the police station and the townhall of Lucrécy. There is the back entrance and the wing for the teachers. The building style of it is an early interpretaion of the Baroque Fantastique which is more simple than nowadays. What really stands out are the many spires, gables and the different shapes put into one building.
