I've always wondered about all the hidden ores I've probably missed when mining. I thought to myself, "How many ores are actually around me?" So I hopped over to MCedit and started taking away blocks. This is done on a 256x307 block grid. After I was finished, I was actually surprised about the amount of ores I've missed all around me.
Here are the results:
Coal Ore: 48,753
Iron Ore: 25,748
Redstone Ore: 7,553
Gold Ore: 2,374
Lapis Ore: 978
Diamond Ore: 960
Emerald Ore: 160
If you want to see the ores for yourself, there is a world download link included.
If you would like to see more things like this, maybe with a certain biome, specific size, etc. just leave a message and I will get right to it!
