This is a project I started working on in 2013. I've always been fascinated by architecture, and have always been a favourite of the original World Trade Center complex. Since my visit to Ground Zero in 2012, I decided I want to create the original complex in Minecraft.

I decided to create the complex on the Xbox 360 version of the game, as I preferred using the triggers for placing blocks as opposed to clicking a mouse, and because my PC at the time didn't run Minecraft very smoothly. So I created a flat world and begun creating it. I came across a few problems though, the first being the height limit. Based on the height limit, and how high I would be able to make the building, I figured that if I didn't include the antenna on top of the North Tower, I would be able to create the building to approximately 1/3rd of it's actual scale. I created this in mind, but rather annoyingly, there was later an update added that removed the height limit, but because I was already quite far into the project, I decided to carry on to the height limit that I originally intended. This did mean that I could add the antenna eventually though.

I completed the North Tower in late 2013, and when I finished the North Tower, the South Tower had been started but was less than 30% complete. I also started the construction for WTC 5 (Building wasn't really accurate to appearance or scale, main focus was on the two towers). I then made a video about my project just after the completion of the North Tower, and then didn't really do anything for the project for a while. (Here's the video I made originally -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_3ijbJvScM)

I sort of lost interest for a while, however I finally decided to come back to the project in 2016, and ended up finishing the South Tower in March 2016, after construction started over 2 years before it's completion. After that, I proceeded to complete building 5 later that same month, and the rest of the complex in April 2016, along with building 4, 6, 7 and the Marriott Hotel building 3.

After I had finished this complex, I actually started to expand on this project. I started adding other famous and recognizable buildings, and before I knew it I was actually making a mini replica of New York City. Since the completion of the World Trade Center complex, I have added the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, 432 Park Avenue (Completed IRL in December 2015), Citicorp Center, Millennium Hilton Hotel, Deutsche Bank Building, and am in the process of making more. I thought the WTC complex deserved to be classified as a project of it's own, seeing as that was my original intention, and how much went into it compared to everything else. I am simply expanding upon it. The WTC complex took me the longest to make, and even though it's inaccurate in a lot of ways, I think it looks great and I'm really proud of how it's turned out. Making the city around this complex is really fantastic.
