This is a piston based bridge. I made it so that each section rises and falls in sequence. The video tells the whole story. I made this a long time ago so some the the lever wiring is a little sloppy, but it still works pretty good.

After designing this I recreated it in game over in water from scratch with no mods of inv hacks just to prove to myself that it wasn't horribly impracticable to make in the vanilla environment.

nice bridge though im not sure how well you could hide the circuitry with one that big :P

It's not too bad, i just updated this post and added in some real world in game pics of one I built on an smp server. I hid the wiring under glass under the water, but it does need a bunch of room .

Ahh! i see! I think that I will have to give it a go myself. It would make a great addition to my castle :)
