I have read that due to a minor change in the activation of pistons, this style door is no longer possible.

If you watch the behind the scenes of the trailer for the 1.7 update on youtube @ about 5 minutes they show the innards of their door and say that it doesn't reverse.

I have also tried to build a similar door and have had no luck yet. Still workin on it.
