This is a project I created, it is a passageway made with 20 pistons. You fall through 4 levels, without hurting yourself, into an underground tunnel. To go back up to ground level there are stairs, as I don't have the tolerance to try and make some sort of lift with pistons and redstone lol. There is redstone hidden everywhere so be careful where you dig! :P
The schematic is one level of the piston passage, so people who know what they're doing can put them together with one block between levels and wire the redstone together correctly to create a tunnel as long as they want.
Requires Minecraft 1.7+

The 2 buttons, bottom and top, run to a toggle circuit, which output current or no current, which then spirals through all the pistons to turn them all on or off.
