I've extended my binary counter a little.

Functions:
  • Clock(Increment by 1)
  • Branch(set)
  • Branch with saving
  • Return(to saved pos, INCREMENTS BY 1!)
  • Reset

More like this

  Have something to say?

Yeah, but It takes lots of space.
Now I'm redesigning this with the controls, because I need more space to wire the data for branching... So I'll come up with another design.
(If anyone asks, I'm doing my homework!)

The idea of saving an address is good. But just one is not really useful. Instead of your register, you can use a stack. Then, each time you branch to a subroutine (only), you will put the return adress in the stack. Then, each time you will use the "return from subroutine" instruction (or opcode), it will automaticaly reload the newer adress.
