Indeed it is.

OP: You definitely don't want to use that for a 16-bit. A full ripple carry is going to take at least 40 ticks from input accumulator to output accumulator. If you still want to use this algorithm, I suggest using an insta-carry adder, such as this one:

The Carry in --> Carry out is transparent, and therefore instant. Also, it's only 3 meters wide, making it a bit more serial bus friendly. You could also try other forms of addition, like carry look ahead, or carry look everywhere, or the Kogge-Stone adder. (Actually I think that last one may be the same as carry look ahead?)
