The CXD 23215 Airborne Mobile Command Station (designation S.H.I.E.L.D. 6-1-6 but known informally as 'The Bus') was a specialized Boeing C-17 Globemaster III modified by S.H.I.E.L.D. The planes were in heavy rotation from the 1980s to the 1990s until S.H.I.E.L.D. finalised Helicarrier development. 6-1-6 served as a flying command center for Agent Phil Coulson and his team, a role that lessened when Coulson became Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. as at this point Coulson's team primarily operated out of the 'Playground' base. Ultimately, the plane was sacrificed during an attack against a HYDRA Facility in the Arctic, after which the Zephyr One took over as the large-scale transport aircraft in Coulson's arsenal.
