I originally had this idea last year. I hadn't really put any thought into construction until now.
Constructed using WorldEdit / Creative primarily
You're probably already wondering why I say "semi-automated" in the title. That's primarily because the arena does not automate the repair of the field. That was intended to be done by WorldEdit. With the excessive bedrock and obsidian in its current state, it also is not the prettiest field, but was meant to be used with WorldGuard to prevent destruction of certain blocks.
Features:
In greater depth, the system is automated from every moment between spawning and entering the arena.
To answer any questions:
> I couldn't have been bothered to make a larger piston-tape to count 0-9, because it would have necessitated an extra number I couldn't display, or a blank. Unless I'm wrong, a piston-tape can't have even number tape sizes, and 0-8 is already nine segments.
> The ready-button system is effectively a two-team reliant system. Near the entry of the arena, the signs explain everything. Across from each entrance, there are redstone lamps which indicate, similarly to the redstone torches, whether a team is ready. There will be a delay and each ready button will reset when both ready buttons are pressed (both red and blue team). The countdown of three note-block sounds will indicate when the doors will open.
What I would have done:
> I really, really wanted the note-block countdown to be attached to a random number generator...in otherwords have the last note block, the higher pitched, door-opening ding, to sound at a random interval from the second-to-last note-block. It would have introduced an element of uncertainty in the start.
> Creating a more dynamic 7-segment display to count scores. There's no feasible way to do it automatically, but I feel my implemented system may be somewhat cumbersome
> I built it over a long period of time, but with function over form as my primary objective. The result of that is better than expected, but it can certainly be touched up.
Thanks for looking!

Features:
- Two-team system (Red/Blue)
- Up to two players per team (Experimented w/ friends)
- Viewing area (Unfinished balcony, doubles as score area)
- Solid snow arena
- Piston-tape powered 7-seg. displays for score (Count 0-8)
- Automated shovel delivery system (Refillable dispensers)
- Two-team ready-button system
In greater depth, the system is automated from every moment between spawning and entering the arena.
