This is my new way of transporting players and even mobs, the Slime Railway. It is basically an ice platform in which pistons with slime blocks, based on the new mechanics, push the players around, moving them around the speed of minecarts. This design currently only goes in one direction, but I am planning on creating one that can go both ways.
