This is a Space Elevators. Space elevators are used to carry astronauts/equipments into space without large and powerful rockets by climbing up a ribbon cable into space. I got the idea from Kenneth Oppel's book Starclimber, the last in the trilogy including Airborn, Skybreaker, and Starclimber. It is my favourite book series by far, and it centers around zeppelins and things of the sort. Check them out here with his other books: kennethoppel.com/pages/books.shtml.

Any way, this is my first attempt at a space elevator. It of course does not move in the world. I realize it is very innacurate as to the Starclimber except for the skeleton. I could not find a way to make the world constantly night so it looks like you're actually in space, so I added a reset button on every floor.

My space elevator contains several floors. It was made for a crew of six plus a captain. Below is the floor listing.

The spider-like arms coming from the ship to the cable are arms at the end of them is black wool, intended to be rollers that would help the ship climb. Along the inside of the ship where the cable is would also be rollers.
