Split World is a Minecraft building project but with a huge backstory, that might be used for other things, like writing a novel or leading an RPG campaign.
It is a continent, called Zang-Thara, consisting of a northern part (Thara) and a southern part (Zang), which are separated by a big straight body of water. This canal is plagued by terrible storms, that make travel and communication between these two parts nearly impossible. That split between the two parts has been there for multiple centuries, which lead to the separation of cultures between them.
In this world there is a single deity (very close to Christianity), which can, but not often, does interfere with the events. There is also a form of magic, which is more or less an innate ability that some people have, but very few of the humans do. Elves are way more prone to magic. There are also other races scattered across the continent.
A threat to anyone is "the hunt" which is a roughly yearly occurrence of monsters, which come from underground to hunt in hordes across the continent to find any human to eat. The rest of the time they stay underground. There used to be a highly advanced ancient race. Not much is known about them, but some blame them for the split between the two parts of the continent.
