Introducing SS United States in Minecraft!

This is a 1:1 scale build of the United States Liner SS United States! This build features her First, Cabin, & Tourist Class interiors.

A few things to Note about this build:
1) I recommend you use the Natural Texture Pack for full immersion.
2) I build in 1:1 scale, but building in this scale comes with limitations. Some areas may be distorted or compromised due to scale and sizing when building in 1:1. Compromises have to be made in order to complete the build, so some areas may not actually resemble the actual thing. (This goes for all future builds).
3) This build does not feature cabins, engine rooms, or crew member spaces. There is dead space unfortunately, but I try my best to accurately recreate the popular venues onboard. All builds primarily focuses on class accommodations (Lounges, Dining Rooms, etc).


Short history of the SS United States
She was an ocean liner built for United States Lines in 1950 and was designed by the famed naval architect William Francis Gibbs. She was the larger running mate to the SS America. She is the largest ocean liner constructed entirely in the United States and is the fastest ocean liner to cross the Atlantic in either direction, retaining the Blue Riband for the highest average speed since her maiden voyage in 1952, a title she still holds today. She would serve a great career transporting many famous celebrities and presidents. As the decades went on, financial times were tough and she was withdrawn from service and was laid up. From the late 60s to the early 90s she was laid up with many companies talking about converting her to their use. Most notable was Norwegian Cruise line, NCL wanted to purchase her but the US government refused to due to some classifications of her design. NCL instead bought the SS France and converted her into the SS Norway. As she sat in limbo waiting for an owner she was beginning to deteriorate and degrade. From 1992-1994 she was towed to Turkey and was stripped down to the bare steel and her lifeboat davits were removed. Her Horns were also closed off in order to prevent water and birds from getting in. In 2009, the SS United States Conservancy was then created that year as a group trying to save United States by raising funds to purchase her. In 2016, Crystal Cruises signed a purchase option for the SS United States. There was hope but unfortunately Crystal Cruises dropped the deal stating it was due to the presence of too many technical and commercial challenges. In 2018, the conservancy announced an agreement with the commercial real estate firm RXR Realty, of New York City, to explore options for restoring and redeveloping the ocean liner. Plans for this redevelopment have been ongoing with new rendering of potential use for this vessel being shown to the public. Today, the SS United States faces a challenge of finding a new pier, new plan, and a new life. All we can hope is for is for this plan to succeed and for her to see a new life, but it is going to be an uphill battle for the United States Conservancy and RXR to secure a solid plan for this grand ocean liner.
