It kind of surprised me that I didn't find any similar project here on Planet Minecraft. And as I thought of building R2D2 before I decided to go for it. And this is the result :) I built most of it in MCEdit and made small things in-game. The whole body is hollow and so I made a base in there, which also contains a mob trap (which is most effective during day and when you are not near the drop collection point, but rather outside the base).

If you want the R2 + interior download the world save.
If you want the R2 without interior download the schematic.

I hope you like the project and feel free to comment and rate.
PS: I'm sorry for my bad english.

Hi, thanks for the comment :)
Building this was quite easy. I just used the basic features/tools of MCEdit and some reference pictures. So I think a step by step tutorial isn't really necessary, as there are really good tutorials for MCEdit out there.

.Hey. I've got your R2-D2 in a Star Wars area on my Kids World I'm close to posting. Do you have any objections to me using it. Check out my projects page for a pic of the area.

Hi, sry for the late response but I've been quite busy.

I'm glad that you like the project :)

To add a video you simply have to copy the link of a youtube video to where it says "Youtube Video Code:", which is the first line at the "Images & Video" tab. I hope this helped.

I hate it when people give thumbs down without leaving constructive criticism :/

How should I know what I can do better/ shouldn't do?

But thx a lot for all the positive feedback :)

Well, I didn't want to make it bigger, as the higher it get's the lower you have to put it if you want to use it on a map, because of the max. map height.

Your English is better than alot of the kids I deal with here in the US. Nice build. To make a schematic all you have to do is select the area around the project (the blue and yellow select field). Once you have R2 completely covered you simply hit export schematic and save. Then check it by going to the crane button and importing it if you want to double check that you grabbed all of your blocks. Or you can upload the world and people can grab it that way.

As soon as you put this up I'm grabbing it for my son, I think he'd like it as a base.

Alright, just updated MCEdit. Instead of export, now it's copy and save to make a schematic file. He added copy cut and paste as well as a bunch of 1.8 blocks. Go update your MCEdit everyone. It's nice.

Gotta love this project big time :D Alone for the reason, that I'm old enough to have grown up with the original Star Wars movies :P

To make a schematic of your creation you need to do as follows:

1. Open MCEdit
2. Mark the whole build with the select tool,
3. In the menu bar on you left hand side there is a function called "Export Schematic" Click it and save.
4. Upload the schematic file to a filesharing site (ie: Mediafire)
5. Update your project here on PMC with a link to the uploaded file
6. Profit :D

Hope this helps :-) And congrats on your awesome recreation of R2-D2 !!!

Thx for the reply, but unfortunately the way of making schematics changed in the Stable29 version of MCEdit as GnomeFreak said.

Oh that figures haha.. Haven't updated my MCEdit for quite a while, so my comment was based on a older stable. But thanks for the heads up, will update asap.
