'Stomach Pain', my entry to the Mythological Hybrids contest.
Mere minutes after the creature emerged from Panjao's patient, the alarm was sounded. The hospital was home to a 11 foot tall monster. It's tiny egg (which the patient had consumed on a luxurious holiday visiting the ancient Juppa people), had incubated in their stomach.
Information on the Juppa people is scarce - they walked the earth 4000 years ago. But our suspicions are now confirmed - they worshipped franken-creatures; creatures created from the grafted parts of each other. Genetically, it is unknown how they were able to obtain a fertile egg from one of these abominations, and the world's top geneticists are currently analysing the trail of slime left by the creature for more clues. They have extracted DNA strands sharing characteristics to the deep sea Angler Fish. Scientists say the other part of the genome is snake-like. They are hypothesising, based on the security picture, that this can only be the genetics of a dragon.
And the weirdest thing yet, this Angler-Dragon seems to have vanished. Seemingly gifted with incredible strength, the creature broke through the room's hydraulic doors. They were fitted on Operating theatre 45, and built to withstand up to 100,000N of force. A short trail of slime followed it's path away from the door, ending in a large, burnt crater...
The hospital is still on red alert, and all other patients have been evacuated. This creature is still out there, and no one knows where it will strike next.
Lore:
The year is 2117. Globally, hospitals are trying to process patients suffering from symptoms of time travel, a technique recently developed. Symptoms vary greatly, many don't even survive their time in the vortex. However, it isn't everyday that a hospital's patient swallows a mythical creature's egg on their trip to an ancient civilisation...
