This is my speculative reconstruction of the Temple of Olympian Zeus at Agregento. This was the largest ionic temple ever created and certainly one of the most unique greek temples ever created. this was located in the greek colony of Akragas that was in Agregento sicily. The history of the temple is unclear but it is thought to have been built to commemorate the battle of himera in 480 bc when Akragas and syracuse beat back the carthaginians who in turn took over the city of akragas later on and prevented its roof from being completed. today the temple lies in ruins after being toppled by earthquakes and all that remains is a couple chunks of its massive columns and its platform due to extensive scavenging in the 18th century
