Introduction

This is the world from Season 1 of my command block creation series, Five Block Fridays. Each episode featured a command block creation made with just five command blocks.

This map starts players off in the main control room containing all ten command block creations. At the far end of the room is a book containing a summary of the creations, and a second book containing a list of scavenger hunt items.

If you get lost, or don't spawn in the bunker for some reason, you can return by teleporting to (8, -60, 8).

Each creation is labeled with a sign and has a shulker box and a gateway block on the floor next to it. The shulker box contains any items required to use that command block creation, and the gateway teleports the player to a demo area to explore that creation.

If you have questions about any of the creations, click the title for each section to watch the original episode with explanation, or visit the Command Block Cove Discord and I'll do my best to help out!

Creation Overview:

Fireflies:

The first creation is a set of fireflies that spawn in the Mangrove Swamps while the command blocks are turned on. These fireflies fly around, flicker in and out, and generate light in the area around them.

The demo area for this creation is a mangrove swamp, with several fireflies already generated.

Charged Jump:

These five blocks give jump boost to players that have been crouching for a second, to allow them to jump higher than normal. This only works for players not wearing leggings, giving a tradeoff between defense and mobility.

The demo area for this creation is a cliff near spawn.

Gateways:

This creation allows players to create custom gateways to quickly travel around the world. The target location is determined using a lodestone compass, and the entrance is created with a respawn anchor. These gateways are used to connect the central hub to all of the demo areas for the other creations.

Langton's Ant:

Langton's Ant is a simple cellular-automata like simulation. An ant walks across a grid, changing the color of the tile underneath it, and turning different directions based on the color of the tile beneath it. It's famous for starting out fairly chaotically before eventually settling into an infinite, repeating pattern. This creation causes entities named "Langton" to follow these rules.

The demo area for this creation is a flattened region covered in concrete, far from spawn.

Conway's Game of Life: (Resource Intensive)

Conway's Game of Life is one of the most well known cellular automata. In a grid of cells, the state of each cell on the next frame is determined by the state of its neighbors. This creation uses a ton of armor stands to run this system with five commands.

Animated Maps: (Resource Intensive)

This creation adds a method of animating map art! Create a locked map for each frame of the animation, then place the base map in an item frame on top of a cartography table. Throwing maps in the sequence you want them displayed will append them to the end of the animation. Once the animation is ready, place the map in a glowing item frame to run the animation.

The demo area for this creation is in the flattened region, and contains a redstone contraption to quickly animate maps.

Loading large animations can be very resource intensive. Try replacing the second command with an impulse block and connecting it to a slower redstone clock. If your game is lagging to much, run "/kill @e[type=glow_item_frame]" to kill frames trying to run an animation.

Rage Potion:

This creation adds a rage potion that causes mobs to be aggro'd towards each other. Place a cauldron on top of a soulfire campfire, throw in a potion of harming and a potato, and receive a rage potion! Throw it at mobs to create an area of enraging particles that cause mobs to attack each other.

The demo area for this creation is a giant pillager outpost with several hostile mob spawners. There's also a farm hidden somewhere in the world that uses these potions to create music discs.

Double Jump Elytra:

Adds a double jump enchantment for elytra! Craft this enchantment by placing the materials in a shulker box and throwing it on an enchanting table. The enchantment allows a player to jump once in midair.

The demo area for this creation is a simple parkour course that requires double jumping to complete.

Cupid's Arrows:

Adds arrows that cause mobs to breed. Shoot regular arrows into a hay bale, throw a lingering potion of healing, and get your fancy new tipped arrows. Any mob that can be bred by feeding can instead enter love mode by being shot by one of these arrows.

The demo area for this creation is a village with several exotic mobs and a arrow mass-production machine.

Maze Generator:

The season finale! Place a grid of armor stands 2 apart named "maze_tile", then place another armor stand next to the grid named "maze_walker". It'll take it some time, but eventually an entire, random maze will be carved out.

Scavenger Hunt:Scavenger Hunt Items

There are several easter eggs hidden throughout the world, all of them in or near the central chamber or demo areas for the different creations. Some may require a bit of spectator mode to find, so feel free to change your game mode to your heart's content.

To participate in the scavenger hunt, post a screenshot with each of the scavenger hunt items/locations. If you're one of the first people to finish the hunt, I'll do my best to get your idea into Five Block Fridays season 2!

Screenshots can be shared in the Command Block Cove Discord server.
