The Fallen Star and the Waking of Yasur herald their return...

Terra Elysio is a Minecraft mapping project. Drawn from scratch using WorldPainter 1.4.0, the map is designed to offer attractive, plausible, and diverse biomes that encourage exploration and impart a sense of discovery and immersion. It is also designed to offer an enhanced gameplay challenge by incorporating resource localization. A lack of NPC structures and normal subterranean entrances or cavern systems will require a slightly different approach to the early survival game.

You can expect:

  • Vast tracts of land! Large continental landmass and islands to explore
  • Very unique terrain! 100% hand-painted terrain, vegetation, and resources
  • Virgin territory! No NPC structures: villages, abandoned mines, etc.

Explore:

...the forested hills and valleys of Isla Regna! Situated above a subduction zone, uplifts have created a series of long ridges and perilous cliffs on the island over time.

...the swamps and jungles of the Embermarsh! In the floodplain of the Lower Arturo River, things are perpetually, well, flooded. This is often bad for homeowners, but great for plant life.

...the epic peaks of the Browncoat Mountains! With pine forests on their flanks and snow on their caps, there's no doubt about it: you are in the mountains.

...the sweeping dunes of the Sable Blanco! The rain shadow of the Browncoats is long and dark. Beneath it lies the sun-baked sands of a vast desert, although life clings tenuously to its coastlines.

...the winding courses of the Arturo and Lancelo Rivers! Fed by snowmelt high in the mountains, these rivers bring life to the plains below, eventually joining at Lake Camelot.

...and much more!

The project is still in an early stage of development. I hope to expand the biomes to include at least taigas, frozen plains, glaciers and ice bergs, and mycelium biomes in the future. I also plan to add custom structures in the form of ruins, mineshafts, shipwrecks, and at least one NPC village. The map is fully playable at this stage, however, with a sizable expanse of hand-crafted terrain spanning >3600x2800 blocks, custom vegetation, and ores seeded throughout the land. The chunks outside of the custom terrain are composed of an infinite flatland ocean. Any and all feedback is appreciated. I would like to know especially about any bugs or mapping errors encountered, but also what you liked or disliked about the terrain and modified resource distribution. My hope is to develop this into a truly first-rate custom map for SMP servers and single play.

Resource Localization Note:

In general, there is more coal beneath hills without exposed stone, more iron ore near places with stone on the surface, more gold in the desert and beneath rivers, more diamond beneath high mountains, and more redstone beneath wet, lush environments and oceanic continental shelves. You can still find these resources everywhere, but they will be more abundant and possibly closer to the surface in their localized areas.

Technical Note:

This save was created in WorldPainter 1.4.0 using Minecraft 1.5.2 algorithms for world generation. (WorldPainter has not yet been updated with the 1.6 worldgen.) Thus, while it can be played just fine using Minecraft 1.6+ and hosted as a server world using the 1.6 server, I do not think horses or donkeys will spawn naturally.
