Tessarakonteres - 40- V1

This is my 1:1 scale speculative reconstruction of the crazy ancient egyptian mega ship the Tessarakonteres or 40 rowed and yes that is it compared to a modern aircraft carrier for scale. This ship was commissioned by pharaoh
Ptolomey IV Philophator and built in alexandria in the 3rd century B.C. as the final answer so a ship measuring contest going on between major power's in the Mediterranean at the time. This is thought to be the largest human powered vessel ever created with 4000 total rowers and the largest ship ever created in antiquity based on greek descriptions of its construction in alexandria. its name comes from the 40 people being used for each column of oars


This is my first real ship build so it was based on fellow team pax romana member Einhonigtee marvelous trireme builds to get the look right so special thanks to Einhonigtee for really making this possible. i also deviated from the all white sails in the one reconstruction this ship has and instead put the egyptian sails from the ac origins ships to spice it up a bit
