Summer 2011, I'm in my percussion ensemble practice. We're doing a video game theme for our summer show, one of the pieces is the tetris theme. The few members of the group there that day are contemplating how we could possibly make human tetris live. The gears start turning in my head.

This is my minecraft version of tetris, in the works, of course. It will be playable using the power of redstone and no mods will be used to make it. My first project on this website will probably be one of my biggest :)

It will start out with the switch of a lever, suddenly you hear music: Tetris theme! The lever sends a pulse to the machine sending a pulse to the randomizer gate randomizing which piece goes now which enters it's particular piece gate and leads into the machines pixel wiring, which lets it fall. You can rotate, shift, and drop the piece with the press of some buttons. The pixels are presented to you by pistons pulling back on certain blocks on a very large 33 x 61 block screen (8 x 15 pixels). Welcome to my mega-project: Tetris.

Update #4 : by trouvel 01/16/2012 2:09:20 amJanuary 16, 2012 @ 7:09 am UTC

Counters! I made a simple counting system, and have mapped it out so I can apply it to the machine. This will act as a memory system, so if there is a block falling and there are blocks under it, the machine will know and will stop the block from falling. The new problem is the fact that the machine only knows individual pixels, not that these pixels are a part of a whole block. So, the different parts of the block may stop falling at different times depending on the terrain it's falling onto. So I need to find a way to fix this if I hope to make this actual tetris.
Along with the counting system, I have mapped out a simple way to show the machine when a horizontal line is full, and to let the machine destroy the line. and I have made the counting machine so that if the line is destroyed, the blocks above it will continue to fall.
Another new problem is that I need to make the left and right gate apply to only the falling block, not the whole system which is the way I've planned it so far. Anyway, I can see a prototype coming soon, the two problems I've mentioned in this will make it legally tetris, and other bugs will be fixed too with the clock thing (which I'm still planning)

I also have my own server, and I have a flat terrain server too. The earliest we'll be able to do this is tonight, because I'm leaving to visit my family in a few minutes, it'll probably be tomorrow though.
