𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵, 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝟭𝟵𝟯𝟬𝘀


Running along California’s scenic coastline, the Southern Pacific Daylight became one of America’s most recognizable passenger trains during the 1930s, its distinctive orange-and-red streamlining standing out against the rugged shores of Gaviota Beach.

Passing between the Pacific Ocean and the rolling coastal hills, the train offered passengers sweeping views of one of California’s most picturesque stretches of railroad, with the surf only a short distance from the tracks.

With polished passenger cars, streamlined locomotives, and the effortless speed of modern rail travel, the Daylight came to represent the elegance and optimism of 1930s California—linking the coast’s cities while turning the journey itself into part of the experience.
