-Lore-
Long ago, a spacecraft named the U.S.S. Charleston launched into outer space. Suddenly, when the craft was passing near Mars, a malfunction took place. The oxygen generator failed, causing all of the crew members to die. Flying without a pilot, the ship crash-landed in a Martian crater. A genetically modified hybrid fungus located in the ship's laboratory soon began to grow. The altered plant, which was strangely suited to the atmosphere and soil of Mars, grew into an enormous mushroom-like tree. Mycelium fibrils soon branched out from the tree and formed a forest of giant fungi. Some time later, a strange, space-travelling creature detected the fungus forest with a sensory organ. This species, the most intelligent creature in the the animal kingdom, has the ability to propel its body through the vacuum of space. Landing on Mars, the creature began to take up residence in the mushroom forest; it used its high intellignce to construct a home in the giant tree. However, the creature died shortly thereafter when it was infected by a certain bacteria that guards the fungus. Thus, the only life to remain was the genetically altered fungus and the specialized bacteria.

-Details-
This is my entry for the Life on Mars Solo Build Contest. I tried to incorporate both structures and orgainics. The spacecraft is full of detail and should be thoroughly explored. I attempted to make all of the mechanisms believable and functional. Enjoy!
How to download:
1. Download the file with the MCEdit Schematic download button (it's not a schematic though).
2. Open the zipped folder that you have downloaded.
3. Copy and paste the folder labeled "The Fate of the U.S.S. Charleston - Life On Mars Solo Build Contest Entry" into the Minecraft saves folder.
4. Open Minecraft and play!
