You may have come across chunk hoppers while out exploring minecraft servers. But did you know they can be used to make sorting systems? On TownyClassic I made this wonderful machine using our chunk hopper plugin for Littlehope's town staff. It features 3 different item input methods. The sorting system is simply a network of filtered chunk hoppers and droppers guiding items to the right chunk for storage.

At any given time the system has around 1200 empty shulkers in it, and a total of 60 shulker loaders. The shulker loaders are restocked using a rail system linked to the empty shulkers coming from the unloader, meaning very little manual restocking is required.

When this storage is entirely full it will contain in the region of 7.5 million items... Just another couple dozen filtered chunk hoppers to install and I can leave this cave.
