The Lonely Snowshoe was originally envisioned as a private wilderness retreat for business and political leaders. However due to the strikingly beautiful but very desolate look of the landscape around the Inn few of those leaders actually came to the retreat. It mainly now serves as a place for rescue operations for people lost in the surrounding snowy plains and icy lakes or for travelers passing through.
During one particularly harsh winter there was an earthquake which caused a rather large amount of snow to cascade down the nearby hills causing quite a bit of damage. This is what spurred the building of the snow wall. Sadly, the cellar of the building also suffered some damage; quite a large amount actually. The building was apparently built directly on top of a fault line and a very deep and large gorge broke through the floors and walls. This has since been repaired but the rest of the gorge is still open under the cellar.
Do not let the depressing nature of this old Inn fool you; according to lore, a massive blizzard struck the Inn sometime in the early spring many years ago when the building was still new. Rather than lament the fact that they were snowed in and isolated, the guests took to celebrating Christmas; giving gifts to each other from their own possessions they packed for their travels.
As with the last project the majority of the inside is going to be unfinished. However, I have started work on the attic rooms and the remaining floors. I haven't put in any stairs or ladders so there are a few holes in the floors to get through. I will be finishing this building off on the inside but it'll be a very gradual process. Like the Hornvalley Estate build Io d love to see how you put the inside together.
Io ll probably be also adding some more buildings since I think that one building isno t enough for the area. Any suggestions for other types of buildings would be most welcome!
There does need to be a bit more terraforming around the Inn but I'm waiting for Single Player Commands with World Edit to come around so I can do that ingame.
I was also thinking about perhaps adding a hidden door in the cellar that would open into the gorge I referenced in the story. But I have a rather difficult time with Redstone and that may take some time.
I love the look of the snow wall and was thinking about wrapping it around the Inn completely but thought that might make it look a bit too busy. What do you think; as is or wrapped around the Inn?
The cellar in this build is very similar to the cellar in Hornvalley Estate but I just love the way it looks - it really makes it feel like a cellar.
Again, as with the last project and pretty much all my projects for that matter, the texture pack is a modified John Smith pack you can download here.
