for one idea, you should have a mining shaft with different levels, each filled with monster spawners.

well you could make it so it digs to the core of the earth or something that ends up releasing a curse or shit like that but it would be too obvious and cliche what you want to think of doing is something extraordinary that no-one has done before like maybe it digs down a you find a spaceship and there is a quest on the spaceship which might mean you have to fix it and that could lead to PT.2 where you are in the spaceship in space
