I have designed an automatic tree cross-pollenation farm for the Forestry mod in the FTB mod pack. It uses pneumatic tubes and blulectric power to send the bees where they need to go so you can be out and doing what you want elsewhere.
This is also going to be the base of a further investigation, along with a comprehensive map, of tree breeding in the near future.
