Library in the center of the campus of the University of Virginia, U.S.A. Designed by Thomas Jefferson, who modeled it after the Pantheon in Rome, to be the centerpiece of the new university. Completed construction in 1826, shortly after Jefferson's death. The Rotunda, along with Jefferson's nearby home, Monticello, constitute one of only six man-made UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United States.
