I recently made a nether portal in my favorite server and decided to post the images to reddit recently, figured that'd be a good idea. Unfortunately, the design wasn't as well appreciated there as someone had designed a more compact toggleable nether portal, problem being it was powered by a lever, and well... I hate levers, so I figured maybe this would get some more attention and be more appreciated amongst the peoples of Planet Minecraft.

Additional Notes

This design in it's entirety, aside from the flip-flop, is my own work and the result of me basically throwing redstone at the portal until something worked and looked good.

I like it. The concept I have never heard of before, but it seems pretty awesome, thought I am not sure why yuo would need to toggle it on and off. o3o

I'll take a look, and the point in toggling it is to keep pesky pigmen from coming through the portal as they now can in 1.3. :P

Yeah, I figured that might be it, but as long as you don't provoke the Pigmen, you won't have a problem. Also, isn't the chance of them spawning really low? And thanks!

Well, yeah, the spawn chances are low and they're fine unless provoked... but I really don't like the noises they make or the fact that leaving an open portal often leaves me with one or two crawling about the house in my way, so this limits almost any chance of it. (Besides the small chance they might spawn when you're actually inside the nether.)
