This can be used to trap mobs,noobs or greifers, just make sure that the above and below blocks are something hard to break :P

Couldn't they just break the pressure plate then replace it, reversing the on/off and lowering the blocks?

Yes, however if you are not using sticky pistons then the blocks will stay in place :)

If you're not using sticky pistons, you'll have to break all 4 blocks and reset the trap every time an animal sets it off...

good point, maybe there could be a way to make some kind of leaver activation from like a viewing point..

Personally, I've never cared much for traps that just trap an enemy, I like to make all of my traps with lava, cactus, water (drowning), etc... included. :D

I have a lever-activated lava trap in one of my worlds right now, bet it would be easy to switch that lever out for a pressure plate so somebody falls into lava, or water and have pistons close off right above the water so they drown lol
