I came up with this house design for a city currently being built in a server I belong to. In most tutorials I've seen, people tend to use texture pack wool to create the cross-stitch appearance, but I figure "why not try trapdoors". It's a fairly simple house, and leaves a one block gap around itself and the environment you paste it into.

Just download into your WorldEdit --> Schematics folder, and follow the load --> paste instructions from there.
