I have a friend at school with a 24/7 server, I could try and hook you up.

My desktop is currently unavailable for hosting purposes and my laptop is on the verge of imploding. So it seems wiser to let someone else handle server duties.....

This looks terrific. It reminds me of Cloud City, Bespin, was that in your mind as you designed this? Can't wait to see it finished.

Haha well yes and no. The way i like to design is - Think how i would build it as an engineer given the technology available to me. So i often come up with a deep backstory of the science behind my projects and then use that as a launch platform as well as a point of reference. This at least in my head insures that the build "makes sense".

So this all started with - But where is the Leviathan built? (my other project). It didnt make sense that a ship that never had to land and was completely self sufficient would be built on land. So it had to have been manufactured somewhere bigger and also self sufficient. But a factory of that size would require a city to go with it. Which then leads onto how do you keep an entire city up in the air. So i looked up science fiction and Bespin obviously popped up. One thing that became clear was surface area to volume ratio.

So altough a design based on disks might not exactly be original it "makes sense". However i believe i have a few surprises in store.

Im currently debating weather to scale the project to a 512 high map or half that. Undecided until i experiment further with lag on such a map (using dynamic height mod).

I forgot to mention that while the core of this project would have been built on land, once launched it built the other parts itself - hence its modular design

I could help, I know i dont have much proof that I'm any good, but if you let me on the server (if you have one) for a week, I can show you what I can do.

And so it should! The idea is very similar although that's where the similarities end. Also i have to say - your build references to Myst made me install and play them all again. :P

Once i get a good design outline to upload i think youll like the direction this is gonna go and maybe even help out.
