Alpha-3 Nimbus-Class V-wing Starfighter

The Alpha-3 Nimbus-Class V-wing starfighter or more simply known as the V-wing was the main Interceptor used by the Republic Navy in the latter half of the 3 year conflict known as the Clone Wars. Manufactured by Kuat Systems Engineering, the V-wing was a sleek wedge shaped interceptor that was produced with cutting edge technology for extra speed and agility. The V-wing lacked a hyperdrive and a pressurized cockpit which meant that pilots were required to wear sealed flight suits however the lack of a pressurized cockpit increased the maximum speed and agility of the fighter. Best deployed in swarms the V-wings were deadly enemies in combat, with their small frame and impressive fire power, the V-wing and the naval doctrine around them lead to the creation of the TIE line of ships which would go on to serve the Galactic Republic's successor, The Galactic Empire as their main starfighters of choice built by Sienar Fleet Systems.
