Hello and welcome to VScape, Voussoir's Escape Map. This is being released as my 50th video special on youtube. Please visit my channel at Youtube.com/VoussoirCraft if you enjoy the map! In total, I worked for about nine hours on this (honestly, I had to spend a lot of time thinking of what I wanted to build!), so I hope everyone who plays thoroughly enjoys this.
This map was designed to be unique. Sure, there are plenty of escape / adventure maps out there, but not like this. VScape will truly be a challenge, and requires extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of Minecraft. If you aren't an MC expert, you may have some trouble on a few puzzles. Some of them will be easy. Like, easy enough for a human to figure out (shouldn't be that bad). Some of them will be hard. I built this entire map myself, and I was able to complete it in 13 minutes, getting every point. If I skipped points I'm sure I could have made better time, but whats the POINT in that?
What's so special? I've seen Youtube videos of people playing through adventure maps or escape maps, and one thing constantly bugs the heck out of me. The creators of the maps can't stop being GLaDOS. I love portal. Portal the first and Portal the Second, both great games. If you are going to make a MC map called "Portal in Minecraft" then go right ahead. But I am darn sick of the maps that claim to be original, and then contain nothing but white-walled rooms, with signs all over the place with captions such as "Welcome, test subject, prepare to test!" "The testing facility" "*Insert sarcastic GLaDOS humor here*" "No, don't escape!" "Come back!" "When you finish the test, there will be cake" and all that type of stuff. I'm. Sick. Of. It. So stop.
Good Luck, it might come in handy. As mentioned right about...There^, this map is not a Portal remake. No, in fact, I tried to use as few signs as I could. Of course, there are signs, there needs to be signs. However, I made it my intent to NOT make any signs that say right out what to do and how to do it. You might very well screw up while playing this map. You might make iron pants, well all know how these kind of things happen. We don't want them to, but they do. You will NOT be receiving help at every turn. Figure. It. Out. If you CAN'T figure it out, dealwithit.jpg. Yes, that might sound really evil to you as the player, but if you are a Minecraft expert, you will LOVE the actual figuring it out. I myself am sick of maps with signs all over the place, it takes away too much of the challenge, and I want you to have a challenge.
Start with 1. If you are planning on playing this map singleplayer, go ahead, the map is awaiting your arrival. If you plan on doing this with friends, you will probably spawn in some bizarre places, since it will put you in the default spawn point. Here is what I recommend- Play the map on single player. You don't have to complete the map (you dont want to ruin the surprise for your friends, you want to stay on the same pace as them) and then somehow break out of the map. You can use SPC, or TMI* to turn creative, and break a hole in the ceiling. You should do this so that you know which of the rooms is the 'start' room. Then, when starting the server, have all of your friends follow you into that room, and begin your escape.
*SPC = Single Player Commands. TMI = Too Many Items. Both of these are mods available for download.
New High Score! Around the map are chests. Some chests contain items you need to complete the game, and many others contain Lapis Lazuli and/or Diamonds. Lapis Lazuli are worth 1 Point. Diamonds are worth 2 Points. Also, there are two 'Bonus Challenges', one of which is worth 20 points, the other 10. There are 58 Lapis, and 23 Diamond (I built the map, and thats how many I came out with when I played the map. I got the same result 3 times, so hopefully I didn't miss any. If I miscounted in some way, let me know)
That comes out to a grand total of 134 available points. Don't worry, many chests with Lapis are not hidden at all, they are simply rewards over time. Still, you may find some challenge in getting all of them.
DO NOT CHEAT: This should be obvious, but here goes. There are some points in this map where it is VERY easy to just pillar-jump up, or make a staircase, or make a bridge, or make a what-have-you. Originally, I had a rule in place where you can only place blocks on stone. This quickly made the game too easy (all the important spots were stone, so you can see exactly where the answers are) so i threw that rule away. If you want to ENJOY this map, you will NOT cheat. If you want to be stupid, dumb, dishonest, or a general jerk, go ahead and make your bridges, but I will be very disappointed. Remember, Minecraft has no idea if you are cheating or not, so if you DO cheat, you will still get full points, but you will be a disgrace (If you spend an hour on just one puzzle, then I understand. If you just pillar your way up within the first five seconds of entering a room, I hate you, and there is nothing you can do about it.)
Have Fun. This part is important. Enjoy yourself. Go slow the first time around, and then try to do a speedrun, and then try to get every point possible (you won't. I'm serious. You won't). I am considering making a video with the answers, but even if I do, I will NOT be releasing that for at LEAST one week, maybe even two. Please leave feedback, you have no idea how much your cooperation means to me. If I made mistakes with this map, be cool about it, I'm human, and hopefully you are too.
