I have a habit of hoarding everything I collect and wanted a nice way of staying organized.

My first attempt was an extremely compact room, with vertical pairs of double chests containing the same classes of items (plants, gravel+flint, special blocks, etc). Contents of the chests are identified by the block adjacent to each chest. It was unfortunately not big enough for everything, so I ended up adding a basement for bulk items.

My next attempt used the same principle, but is considerably larger and made room for an actual floor. Again, the block in front of each set of chests identify what's inside. For items which aren't placeable in the world, a sign is put up, instead.

I've been unable to top my current warehouse layout, but I was unhappy with it being underground. I ended up creating a new sea outpost with all of the requirements for a permanent base. My main goal is still collecting things, so the warehouse is on the first floor. The greenhouse and Nether portal are in the basement. I tried to to go for a mirror effect by flipping the exterior of the top floor, but the glass makes it obviously incorrect. I still like the effect, though.

That reminds me of the floating gas stations off the in the breakwater south of LA. Yours looks much nicer than those for sure, but cool idea, and great execution.
