I've decided to start working on a large personal project, purely for fun. The project is code-named 'The Citadel', but will likely reveice a new name later. A citadel is a fortified 'city', and the plan is to create a somewhat large medieval-inspired fantasy settlement in the valley of a mountenous terrain with large chalk cliffs. For extra fortification, the city will also be walled in. On a large intermediate cliffside atop the lower valley I have built a big palace that will look out over the lower city. The town center in the lower valley will be the main part of the city with a cathedral, townhouse/greathouse and all the kinds of facilities you may expect in a medieval fantasy city - a library, a butcher, a bank, a granary, a market, a storehouse, a baker, a sawmill, and so forth. On the hillsides I will create large housing areas, with a small secondary market on the mid-level valley on one side, and farmlands on the other side.
