looks like a really good try, one of the back legs is a bit awkward though. For shading, something simple as the clippaste brush (denz brush) would work if you split the palettes between several shades, something more gradual than blobs of color.

Looks neat! Though I think the head should be just a bit wider, as right now it's kind of merged with the neck, nice work though! :)

Thanks! I'm quite new to organics. Do you have any techniques on coloring them? I usually build them with stone and then use brushes to paint them.

I paint with worldedit brushes as well, but I think you should try working with gradients, rather than taking 50% one material and 50% of another, and really try to get the highlights and lowlights in the correct places.
