Great for experience as you just lead a mob that may kill you into the pressure plate and its trapped, you can either open the door when you are ready to kill it, or you can set the TNT alight to blow up the Mob, however this will detroy the trap :P

try surrounding the pressure plate with tnt, much better trap.

yeah but it just increases the blast radius and could affect things around your house :P
