Nobody expected the Calamity. Even worse, nobody was prepared for what it would cost.

After the Great Battle of Sonn - an apocalyptic event that forever changed the island of La'On, refugees and survivors fled to the only other place they could - the skies above. Combining the terrestrial knowledge of the native Laonites and the mechanical ingenuity of the Colonists, mankind invented airborne machines in the midst of the end of the world - the very same machines that promised a future for their descendants.

As the Surface world fell into ruin and decay, the survivors forged a new path forward on the floating islands above the cloud barrier. With time, a replenishing population, and a dwindling lack of renewable resources, conflict arose and the refugees began to split into factions. As the Skyborne and Children of the Sun - the two prominent divisions of mankind - grew divided, the Sky began to change. New creatures - new species - new lands began to emerge. Ancient races began to re-appear after being lost for so long. Entire islands appeared from the midst of the clouds, shrouded in mystery and the unknown.

Now, on the island of Sommarfall, a collective of refugees from the town of Airumil are beginning to grow restless. Conflicts and creatures appearing on the island are making it ever more dangerous to live on. Strange monoliths appearing from the ground are confounding even the most knowledgeable arcanists. It seems the only way for the Airumilian people to save their island, without re-exposing themselves to the sky, is to go down below to the corrupt Surface and search for answers...
