ShankShock Server presents: BlockShock


ShankShock was created in 2008 as a community for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, who focused on building rather than actually playing the game for what it was intended for. We evolved past that in 2009, jumping to Garry's Mod for a year, before diving into Minecraft with the release of Minecraft Alpha 1.0.15.

We're focused on community and earning and keeping your respect. The server has been entirely funded by the community for the entirety of its existence, and maintains strict policies about being open with donation status. We maintain that we'll either have a server online or we'll release the map if we can't afford it.

The primary map, affectionately named after the Hunger Games' fictional country, is a hybrid cross between survival and creative. Here are the current alterations to gameplay you can expect:
  • Creepers & explosions are turned off.

  • Some areas of the map are entirely hostile mob free.

  • Drowning, fire, and fall damage are disabled for your convenience.

  • Fire spread and wood burning is disabled for your convenience.

  • Donors can create cosmetic blocks and some tools from nothing. Donors can also edit and alter the time. This is our means of thanking the people that keep us online.

  • Some administrators have projects designed by admin tools. This is our means of thanking those who devote potentially hours to sorting out issues to keep the server healthy.
We run the following main plugins:
  • CraftBook

  • Homes

  • Warps (though donors are the only ones able to create new warps)

  • mcMMO
Guidelines:
  • Keep it fair. External hacks (that enable flying, noclip, or easier to find ores) aren't permitted. We don't mind playing with different texture packs, and we encourage you to experiment with mods to your heart's content.

  • If someone else made it, don't touch it without their permission. Don't ask us if you can "raid" or "use" an abandoned building.

  • We have a zero tolerance policy for people who have the sole intention to destroy another community member's stuff. You can expect a ban from all services for good if you break this rule.

  • No Minecraft skins that depict nudity. They look like crap, they're 16 bit, and more importantly, they cast a bad stereotype. We'll probably ban you until you change it.

  • Admins are discouraged from using world edit to help players. They are not supposed to make walls and set regions to different materials.

  • No, you can't have admin (or mod).
More information on the server can be found on our wiki. Our forums are powered by a (yes, legally licensed) copy of XenForo. Our TeamSpeak 3 server houses 512 slots as well, though we hardly use more than 20.

We currently have a very sparse, open world at our newest city. Once you spawn for the first time, /warp shadowvale will take you there. Building in the city limits costs silver, our in game currency, though outside the city is anyone's game. We're looking for those of you're tired of gimmicky servers run by people who've got no experience and who're looking for a good place to hang out and chat. Our TeamSpeak is potentially one of the most exciting things we offer, as we tend to have programmers & engineers hanging out during most times of day.
