The city of Mineopia was once a sprawling urban metropolis. Cargo went in and out of ports, factories churned out Minecraft Goods, and Mines found riches byond imagination in the deepest depths of the world. Mineopia was thriving -- but only on the surface. Because of all the new found wealth, Mineopians were buying anything they could get their hands on. Many people purchased goods on credit, and bought things simply because their neighbors had them. The mentality was "Steve has a brand new black mustang, why shouldn't I?".  People were buying more and more goods on credit, so the owners of the large compaines became richer and richer. The division of wealth and the class gap grew more and more. The rich grew richer and the poor grew poorer, leading to a small group of elite citizens. In an attempt to make money, many citizens bought diamond stocks in the large compaines 'on the margin'; meaning that the full cost of the diamond stock would only be paid for if the stock of the company rose. But it never did. Banks closed, and people demanded payment, but the diamond stock that people bought was non-existent from the On the Margin diamond loans. People were layed off from companies, and banks continued to close. The economy was collapsing, fast.
Mineopia went into a full scale economic depression within the course of just a few weeks. One thing stacked on to the other, and soon there will homeless people fighting for food in the streets. Riots ensued, and chaos overtook the once great city. The once small underground Mafia provided the citizens with weapons to 'fan the flames' of the riots, and eventually the government was taken down. Seizing the opportunity, the now rich and powerful Mafia took over. They promised to bring peace to the land, and provide food and shelter. But peace never came. The riots got more and more violent, people blowing up buildings, destroying roads, railways, and homes.
Eventually, a group that called themselves 'The Resistance' grew out of the chaos and promised to take on the Mafia. Originally, many citizens joined the group. Still though, they failed to muster enough force to topple the Mafia's regeme. Many members of the group had different opinions about how to make peace in the land, and thus the Resistance split apart into many, smaller factions.
Now, following in the footsteps of the Resistance, tons of players are making their own factions, all in an attempt to gain control of the city. Some fight for justice, others, simply for personal gain. What will you fight for? The city is yours to explore, grief, raid, and pvp. You can join the Mafia, ally with the Mafia, or maybe even fight against them. Start your faction, and take back what once was.
