The economy is initially harsh for anything that doesn't involve selling minerals. Selling minerals (ores) is a hundred times more profitable than farming sugar canes for example. It takes a lot longer for sugar cane farming to be more profitable than a cobblestone generator that you can build with less than a stack of iron and generates 200 blocks per minute. It took me only a couple of hours to get a fortune 3, efficiency 4, and unbreaking 3 diamond pickaxe, full diamond armor, and a coal printer. Generators (give you resources over time), printers (gives you money over time), and minions (automate things like fishing and mining) significantly add to the problem. The economy is not nearly as balanced as the owner claims. Your island becomes a money island like a bad idle game.
