If you are looking for Roleplaying, than this server is most definitely for you. If not, I'm sure there's somewhere else nice. It's basically as simple as that. But I'm sure your not convinced.

I was just about done with Minecraft when I came upon the trailer for this server, and I must say, it has been well worth the ten dollars.

When I first joined about a month ago, I was quite surprised to find that this server was only set up last september. The developers have put a lot of effort into the world. The great cities of Letheriel, Fjordhjem, and Melos Xarcus are wonders to behold. The Orders of the Sword and Staff command authority and respect. And NPCs like Emperor Zahnul, Anundr Degreth, and Melorean grant a sense of a larger world, not limited to the player characters. Unlike many servers, being an admin here is not some kind of power trip, it's hard work, and for us to play, knowing that those running the show are dedicated to it, makes all the difference.

Although they could perhaps be even better, both the Server Rules, and the Roleplay Laws have clearly had plenty of thought put into them. They are used well to promote RP, grant a clear sense of accomplishment, and further the lore of the world.

The storyline is perhaps the one thing that would benefit greatly from some improvement. At times it feels that elements, such as the treaty between the Zealots and Empire, undermine the established background or are simple tacked on. In general the story feels a little too straight forward. That being said, although it is a less than compelling story, it serves its function well, it facilitates RP, and is likely better than what you will find on most any other server.

Mel'Lenxia sports a number of unique systems, the most obvious being the Government favour, quests, and vaults. However whispers of future plugins especially designed for ToML, keep us all in eager anticipation.

The lag which was mentioned in previous reviews seems next to non-existant now, and it better be when Luminus and Golerath are paying $200 a month for the server.

But perhaps the best thing about Tales of Mel'Lenxia, is not what it is, but it's potential. It is great now, but I look forward to so much more.

I've been playing Minecraft SMP for close to a year now. I'm very picky about the servers I invest my time in. The problem has been that a lot of servers advertise a lot of great features, once you get access you realize that the server is no different from other severs.

My favorite server was going through major turmoil and I actually contemplated giving up Minecraft all together after having been disappointed in the four other servers I applied for. By accident I stumbled upon Mel-Lenxia and again was impressed about the promises of "true RPG sever", "active and mature community" etc. What made me pull the trigger was the fact that they still ran 1.3 (1.5.01 in the time of writing) and figured that these guys might have gotten it right by staggering updates.

I started reading all the documents and the rules and finally put my application in. Once approved (less than 24h) I decided to pay the 10 USD fee for citizenship and I haven't looked back. This is the only server I play on now and it is fun.

Who is this server for?

If you like...
* Structure
* RPG
* Active and friendly community
* Respect for authority
* Potential to go from rags to riches
...this server is your #1 pick

If you like...
* Free build
* lolz and h4x0r
* griefing
* cheating
...you won't last an hour on the server.

Bear in mind that there are rules and laws on the server. Rules cannot be broken without punishment (like getting banned) while laws can be broken but you might face consequences (fines, jail time etc).

The admins are very active and very busy, both in and out of the game. It helps to have patience which was hard for me in the beginning since I just wanted to play.

Is everything great? No, there are some issues. I experience a lot of lag on this server that I don't have elsewhere (10/1 mbit line). It is very easy to break the rules by continuing a game style that can be used on 99% of the other servers.

It takes some time to build wealth and favor (favor is used for permits etc) which is a great thing and I believe this is one of the factors that make people stick around.

Do you have to role play? To get the best experience out of your time in Mel-Lenxia you have to role play. If you stay to yourself or break the "Out of character" rules you will not gain any respect from the community.

Closing statement.
Everything Mel-Lenxia says it is/isn't is 100% true and accurate.

To day this day, I have been a complete gamer. I was into shooters, RPGs, consoles, PC's, you name it. Then, I found Minecraft. It was very fun, but it got old too fast. I stopped playing for months. One day I decided to build a city with a friend on a private server, and in a few days I had built fairly large and fun structures, and it was entertaining, but like the first time, I got bored as it got old.

At this moment I decided that I needed something new, so I looked on youtube for something that would fill my needs of having a purpose for me, and Minecraft. On my first search, a video called "Tales of Mel-Lenxia: an RP Server," came about. I viewed that one and a few more... I was interested. First thing the next day I signed up for the guest quest! I had fun, everyone was immensely nice and inviting.

Still at that moment, I hesitated viewing the payment of 10 bucks. Thinking over and over about it, it hit me... It was only 10 bucks. Realizing it was basically pocket change, I went on Paypal and proceeded to make my payment, bringing a friend and my brother along for the ride.

And let me tell you, those 10 bucks are one of the best 10 bucks I have ever spent. Only 10 bucks and the replay value is worth 60, a month has passed and I still comeback as if it was the first day. The first day, the community really showed it's colors... Even being a citizen, everyone was incredibly nice and helping for me to start in on the fun. In the first 5 days I had already felt like the 10 dollars were worth it, in other words, if my Minecraft died and I couldn't play it or Mel-Lenxia ever again, I would be satisfied that those 10 dollars were not wasted. Thats how fun Mel-Lenxia is!

So I invite you all who read this to give the server a try! You may well not regret it! Trust me. I did and I'm extremely happy with it. Now, based on the 4 rankings I am allowed to rate, I will describe my scoring with more detail.

1. Restrictions and Policies: 5
You will notice a number of well thought out rules, both server rules and in-character laws, that really help keep the experience how it is supposed to be. The amount of rules that prevent griefing is breathtaking, they really do a great job on preventing the demoralizing action, so don't you even worry about that! The RP laws really give the game a sense of accomplishment, working up to the required favor or experience to open up my business was really filling, my builds had a purpose... Which was exactly what I was looking for. Modding for an advantage is against the rules and the admins do a great job on preventing and removing players who perform them.

2. User Community and Experience: 5 (I'd give it a 7)
This is where the server, along with creativity and wow factor, really shines. The community is extremely helpful and nice, I have never had a bad experience with anyone online. Everyone was very inviting as I started, in a matter of no time I had a set of friends and contacts to talk with. As for the admins and mods, this is why I'd give this a 7 diamond rating. I am safe to say that I have never, ever, been on any thing or game with admins and mods, who are extremely dedicated and hardworking, yet they feel like your friends and someone you can talk to. You can really sense they're dedication to the server yet at the same time they find the time to be involved and communicate with the community, which is remarkable for me. I remember the at the beginning, a Mod named Turikar, really helped me start and was extremely helpful. Little did I know it would only get better. I could easily mention more than one positive experience with each of the admins and mods in there.

3. Creativity and Wow Factor: 5
It says it right there: Wow. Wow is the word that I thought to myself when I walked the streets of the beautiful and smart creations in that server. Wow is the word I though when I first got to know the community. Wow is the word when I starting immersing myself in the incredible RP the server has to offer. I can't really say much of the incredible creativity this server brings, the best way to tell you this is that you go and experience it. Be it the beautiful build or the well thought out lore, this server is extremely creative and really leaves you jaw-dropped. So instead of rambling on, I just recommend that you log on the site and let your eyes do my talking. The lore is so well written that it leaves so much space for expansion, continuity, and the space for a player like you and me to be as creative as possible with your character, and be somebody.

4. Server Specs, Uptime, and Lag: 4
The server is filled with plugins and mods that make the experience even better. The lag is almost non existent, and this comes from someone living in Puerto Rico and the server being in Australia, so do not worry about that. The reason it is almost and not completely is because, there are server restarts and saves, but I find this necessary at the same time. Other than that, I have no problems at all with lag or anything connection related.

That being said, don't over think it and just give it a try, and you won't regret, it, I promise you. This is one of the best, if not the best, RP Minecraft server around: Tales of Mel-Lenxia. See you here!

Minecraft is a fun game. You can explore, mine, and build. However, for me, there's not really a huge sense of accomplishment and growth that you experience with other games. This is where Tales of Mel-Lenxia has stepped in and provided something that keeps me coming back.

The admins behind ToM have come up a history, races, and much more that provides a backdrop of lore that's immersive and a blast to learn about. Between the large cities, with their distinctive architectures, and landscapes that been designed by hand, I've been experiencing a feeling of wonder and awe as I explore the one...something I haven't felt since the beginning days of UO and EQ. This is something that I've been searching for in online games.

The community have been great and the admins and mods take part in conversations, both to listen to our feedback and provide teases of whats to come. This shows that the team running the show is committed to bringing the best that they can offer. I look forward to updates to the story.

Yes, there are rules behind building and play. Yes, building is, for some, a huge part of Minecraft. But, these rules aren't restrictive. Earning the right to build gives a sense of accomplishment that I feel is missing from vanilla Minecraft. I'd rather earn the right to build a farm for myself to take part in economy and community than be able to free build in a single player game or other multi-player server. My building becomes part of something much bigger.

The only complain that I have is the occasional lag, but it's been minimal and mostly around the map saves and server restarts...both of which are completely understandable given the size of the world and amount of changes going on.

ToM has made my Minecraft experience EASILY worth the price of admission. It's given me a sense of community and accomplishment that the largest of MMOs couldn't. Of course, that's one man's opinion, but I've had more fun in the few weeks I've been a member of ToM than I did in the year I played that MMO.

Tales of Mel-Lenxia is far and away one of the most well designed roleplay servers I have ever seen. The video above gives just a small taste of the things that can be done on this server. The staff is phenomenal, and the heroes seen in the video are online throughout the day and love playing Minecraft.

The cities are massive, the landscapes are gorgeous, and the possibilities are endless. Join the Order of the Swords and fight the Zealot Hordes. Start a business and rule the world with money. Find a friend and build houses together, or find many friends and build a city. The options available to a player are limitied only by your hardwork.

As a somewhat new player myself, I can garuntee that you will achieve something. After only having been there for 2 weeks, I am ready to purchase my own land, and plan on starting a brand new community on the outskirts of one of the largest cities in Mel-Lenxia. It is quite literally the most fun I've had playing Minecraft.

The people are incredible. There is almost no griefing whatsoever, and, thanks to innovative plug-ins, your creations are protected from anyone who might wish them harm. From day one I have felt welcomed and made many new and fun friends here at Mel-Lenxia.

To all of you who are worried about the $10 membership fee: Don't. It's completely worth it. You will have an excellent time here. And the staff provide monthly financial reports so you can make sure your money goes where it should.

This server is stunning, and I encourage any and everyone to sign up and jump in.

Tales of Mellenxia is the only server i have been able to stay on for more that 1 week.

Admins/mods:They are really nice and help whenever they can.They will never hurt anothers players feelings.Golerath a admin constantly works on this server.

Server:I feel this server is like my family from that other planet.They always are nice even though sometimes we disagree,But hey don't we all?

The story for Tales of Mellenxia is amazing I wish i could think of that.Once you play and roleplay on this server you will be hooked.Even if you are new to roleplay you fit right in.

Rules:Most people would say this is stupid,But we are not allowed crafting benches and furnaces.If we want to use them you have to go to a crafting hall.The upside to that is all the roleplay.We also have permits so "person1" doesn't have 15 mansion and "person2" has none because theres no land to build. With permits you will also appreciate alot more.

This server has taught me respect, how to type fast( all the typing is crazy),Social skills,and how to roleplay.

To me, Tales of Mel-Lenxia is the best server I have ever joined, but to further analyze the server I have set up catagories:

The Lore: In order for one to get the full experience of Tales of Mel-Lenxia Roleplay server you must learn the "Lore" or world history. The main over view of the lore is the story of a small growing county known as Mel-Lenxia. As this country grew Mel-Lenxia became aware of another race inhabiting the forest's. This race known as the obsidites are a peacful race who have the ability to magically sculpt obsidian into powerful tools and other items. The great Zahnul, emporer of Mel-Lenxia sent his armies to attack and destroy the obsidites. It is up to the player's character to decide wether the attack was justified or if the attack was uncalled for and out of any reason the character belives. This entry about the lore is just scratching the surface. To find out more about the lore check out the Tales of Mel-lenxia official website

Roleplay: Tales of Mel-Lenxia offers an superior roleplay experience. Right from starting off in the server you are considered an imigrant or if it is part of your character a local just starting off on their own. From this the main goal when you begins is to have fun and roleplay. Initial roleplay may be hard to find, but what I have learned is that if you give a little you may get alot. By this I mean if you anounce that you're ordering a drink at the local pub, people will come out of curiosity. Strike up a conversation with this(these) people, get in a drunken bar fight, make a friend, the possibilites for roleplay are infinite, while you and others make it unique. Call your new found friends together for a hunting party and hunt the dangerous undead that comeout during the night. Take your best friends on the server and form a guild. Spy on government officials and sell the information. Not a fighter or a spy? Do you just want to settle down and have a farm? Well dont get ahead of your self, you first have to get a permit for a house. What do permits require? Permits requir a certain amount of money or "zahnuls" zahnuls are the official currency of Mel-Lenxia named after the great emperor Zahnul. Along with zahnuls "favour" is needed. Favour is basically reputation in Mel-Lenxia, the more favour you have the more things you can get acsess to. You can get favour by doing government quests. You may ask your self, well just talking to other people and doing quests seem like it would get boring after a while. Well the ToM admin team stage "world events" to keep the roleplay in the server alive. But the roleplay doesnt end when you disconnect from the server, on the ToM official website we have a very active forum community where you can post the bio of your character, and in the group roleplay section, player created quests are posted and you can participate in them.

Server: The ToM server almost all of it was crafted by hand, the clearing and making the land flat for the cities, and the cities them selves are stunning, the two main cities Letherial and Fjordhjem are where you will start out living in a slum house. Connecting these two cities is the Imperial Highway that scralls across the land. Keep in mind the map was generated before bioms were implemented, so all the bioms you see are man made, including a giant desert. The Admin team has also implemented various mods into the server such as craftbook, an economy mod, and one of my favorite mods, where you can actually sit on stairs/slabs with signs on them! The server 's lag has been decresed with the upgrade to bukkit. Although lag is still present, just not as much.

Rules: The ToM server has a set of rules that all must follow, (some rp rules can be broken) at first it may seem like it is alot of rules but when you get comfortable with it you see that the rules are easy to abide by. The server has a strict policy on griefing, the server uses cuboid to ensure that there are no giant griefs in the main cities and citizens business'/houses. Admins and mods both can use block history to see who might have made the giant strip mine that is unpleasant to look at next to the Imperial Highway (this is just an example).

Support: ToM prides it self on excellent support, your application will be looked at and accepted within a matter of 24-48 hours, you will then get your guest pass to roam around, but you dont have the same privilages as citizens. The Admins urge you to ask around the forums before asking them a question someone might already know. The ToM website is very user friendly with all main sections displayed at the top for easy acsess.

Overview: ToM gives minecraft users a unique roleplay experience with a great community hard working mods/admins and stunning cities/towns/ruins. Although the only type of lag I have encountered was frame rate lag (might just be my computer) some of the mods in the server can also be buggy. but overall I would suggest that you take a tour of the Tales of Mel-Lenxia server.
