Roleplay, Riches and Mysteries Abound
Welcome to the Tainted Lands, traveller. For nine millennia these lands have held great, but mostly forgotten, importance to the world of Minecraftia and all its inhabitants. Ito s very existence is a testament to the forerunners of history, and all sacrifices made for the sake of freedom. Yet times darken, as do the hopes of so many; the jaws of Myrnband, the Netherworld, are opening and threaten to swallow those weak and helpless, and devour all things good and free.
If there is to be any future for the world of Minecraftia, you must play a part in this tale. Big or small, your decisions will help shape this land into a bastion of Good and light, or a slave to the Dark Godso will. Your very presence will bend history forever, in more ways than one.
Choose your path! Enter into a unique world, the likes of which no-one has seen before! Interact with the denizens of the land, settle down or take the fight to the enemy. Your choice is your own, and no othero s.
Features
- Choose your race! Enter TaintCraft as a Human, Elf, Dwarf or Orc via our unique racial system! Using complicated algorithms, our tests help determine your recommended race, and help you fit into our world seamlessly.
- Be part of the tale! We have a unique storyline, and lore, for our Server; one which covers a comprehensive list of topics. Read up about the decline of the Elven kingdoms, or the Rise of the Human empires! Who knows? You, too, could earn a page in the history books.
- Interact like never before! You can interact with almost every denizen in the Tainted Lands. Speak to Mercenary Leaders, and recruit guards to protect you! Trade with citizens, and gain riches beyond your wildest dreams! Solve the worries of the people by completing epic quests, and gaining awesome rewards!
- Play your Role! Enjoy bi-weekly & monthly large-scale role-play events, and small-time player created ones, through which you can expand your own tales, and help others with theirs. Suffer an onslaught of Imperial rapists, or fight back the Orc horde!
- Capture Territories! Our unique territory capture system allows each faction to gain and lose land, and build on the regions. Claim lands for your people, and unlock the secrets and benefits that lie within your newfound territory.
- Donate! Our one-of-a-kind donator system allows players to be rewarded in the fullest extent when they donate to our Server. Depending on the amount given, the rewards will mirror! Unlock custom armour and weapons, a deluxe home, or purchase a Build Zone plot to shape your creations!
Current Status
We're offline, again, after a string of donation runs went unanswered. But that's not put us off one bit! During the three months downtime, I've collaborated with MookieChew about the map and what can be improved. After conversing with several veteran map designers, we've decided to revise the map yet again - this time, we're moving away from the fantasy realm and into the realistic.
This means that the new map will have much more realistic terrain than ever before, modeled on the real world. Mountains will be placed according to continental shifts, rivers will flow dynamically and the continent will no longer have constantly-flat beaches - like real life, the coast will be a jigsaw of huge cliffs and small beaches dotted around the side.
Furthermore, we're aiming on making the largest sever possible. The old map was a mere 12km in size, and the landmarks such as Imperia were huge and grossly overwhelming on the landscape. The new map is currently 90km in size to begin with, though I am planning on making it bigger. The limit is 30,000,000km2 - though I'm planning a mere 243,610km instead - at least, to begin with.

I'm trying to re-render the map to include more realistic terrain than what he had previously, but it'll be second-priority against anything else as nobody seemed to care to play on the server, or donate to the cause.
I was, and still am not, working; so you can see that I was left to fund it myself, despite the promises, on money that I did not have.
Sadly, due to a hardware explosion-fire-thingy, I lost the re-render of the new map. Luckily, it's cleared up a bunch of space (namely, a new HDD) so I can begin working again on the map once more. The original map (screenshots above) is backed up, but I was making such good progress on the cliffs. You should have seen them! All....cliffy, y'know.
I'll try and keep this page updated as best as I can.
I've just reinstalled World Painter, and am searching through my backups to see if I have one of the new map, but so far nothing has turned up. I'll keep looking, but if I can't find anything I'll head back and re-create the heightmap and import it again.
Many thanks for your offer of help, however! While I shan't ask you to keep your promise just now, I'll be looking for new hosts too, preferably cheap (but good service) ones so that we're not taxed as much to run it daily. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Only condition is that it's a UK-based server. I could stretch to Europe. Keep in mind that will be a secondary task while I re-do the map.
We're still on the public temp map. 1.4 has added so many new things we hope to implement them into the main map.
