Awesome server! One of my favourite by far!

I really wanted to like this server, I put about 40 hours in. There's a lot of cool features and additions that enhance the vanilla experience, and the owner has put a lot of thought and effort into the server, but it's borderline "pay to win." amongst other issues.

If you buy a rank ,most of which are ludicrously priced, you have a distinct advantage. The noteworthy advantages are spectator mode, which everyone uses to find caves and exposed ores despite it being against the rules but the staff have no way of monitoring it so people get away with it as long as they don't mention it, you get an absurd amount of claim blocks, and a whole bunch of set homes.

The major one is the claim blocks, because as a new player you have no good way to get them. If you vote you get a miniscule amount, 50 or something per vote. Which is a problem when the server advertises itself as grief prevention and anti grief. My group had to actually stop building because we couldn't afford to claim our area. We were held back by the system that is supposed to give you freedom to build.
Our area got griefed a handful of times, and we were told by one of the staff members that we HAVE to claim it because she was getting tired of rolling it back, but we had no way of claiming it unless we bought a rank. We got demotivated and quit shortly after.

They have ranks you can get just by voting, but they provide very little benefit outside of cosmetics that they might as well not exist. Which is bizarre because they require a lot of votes to even get in the first place. You don't get extra homes, you don't get claim blocks, Everything you get from the vote ranks is purely cosmetic or vanity. Which would actually be good if the other ranks were purely cosmetic as well, but they aren't so it just doesn't feel fair at all.

On top of all this, the staff team is hit or miss. I would say probably half of them don't do anything at all, they either ignore chat or afk all day. When they do interact with you, there's a high chance they will be condescending or just generally unpleasant to talk to. Not all of them are like this, but it was a common sight.

Lastly I would say it's hard to find a place in the community as a new player. The majority of the upper ranked players only want to interact with themselves and their little groups via pms, this includes some of the staff. It's like a bit of an old boys club, if you haven't been on the server since the beginning or you haven't bought a rank, they will rarely acknowledge you. The chat is often completely dead because of this.
