This is my contest entry for PMC's 2121 Future Player Skin Contest!

There are some key elements with this skin such as; the googles, gas mask, and the skin, hair, and eyes.

Before I begin, I would just like to say that everything I say is fiction, however, it is referencing serious world issues such as; air pollution, and climate change. I may not be 100% accurate in portraying the real effects of these ongoing issues, so please keep that in mind while reading.

The Beginning

It’s currently 2068 and everything is falling apart right in our hands. We can’t get climate change under control, clean air is so far out of reach, and the atmosphere is almost entirely destroyed. We start scrambling to figure out how we can fix this. Humans have yet to set foot on another planet, we need to do something, and we need to do it FAST.

Air Pollution.

Air pollution is the first thing to fully affect us. The first thing we do is check the air quality on the thermostat, then we take a look at our weather apps as we have errands to check the air quality outdoors. We’ll put on our goggles, gas masks, and hazmat suits to then head out and try to go about “normal life.”

Climate Change

Climate change has already caused so many problems that are irreversible, but, it will continue to cause more problems which will lead to us needing very protective gear to even leave our houses. After having to wear hazmat suits for the past 25 years, we finally have brands like Target, American Eagle Outfitters, and Chanel creating protective gear that looks almost like the clothes we’re currently familiar with. Not only will we have to check our air quality daily, but we also have to check how hot the sun will feel before we leave. If it will feel too hot, school is canceled, and stay inside!

Living Underground

We finally got there! We recreated everything we’ve ever known underground to safely get ourselves to a much more livable life. The new generations to come won’t know how life was 100 years ago, or even 50 years ago. While we still try to work on the artificial sunlight, though, the new generations will be experiencing albinism as a result of adapting to the new environment. But at least they won’t have to suffer through the fear of not knowing what will happen next for a long time, hopefully.
