Alienated.

Alienation: An uneasy sense of distance from one's own self, a reflection of someone/something no longer it's original self.

I remember a story on the news, not too many months before this trauma. They spoke of an alloy that was found, half of which was created by previously undiscovered metals. It was found in a large, artificial cave, one with delicate, carvings of rock and gravel, with soft paths. I believe they mentioned a waterfall, as well. Anyway, it appeared almost out of this world, it could've been there for hundreds of thousands of years, but the recently trodden path and other scraps and indicators said otherwise. Nothing about the cave has been said since, oddly enough. Aliens? I'm not concerned with that thought anymore.

The car crash is another story, one that left me on the verge of an unfriendly death. I suffered severe head trauma, and lost my left arm. The glaring fire chew through the rest of my left side, and left me in unbearable agony. It should've been fatal.

Who am I? That's a funny question. What's left to consider 'who' about me? I'm an 'it'. I have been since the car crash.

The doctors weren't even able to identify me, not after what I went through. That probably made them feel better when they tested new technology on me like a guinea pig. They weren't concerned with consequences, or whether or not approval from me needed, I was in a coma anyway. I wouldn't care, right?

Since the procedure, I've managed to gather as much as I can:
They replaced my arm and burnt skin with an untold alloy, of the unnatural kind. It's almost too smooth, yet it seems to glow. I'm now certain this is the alloy they found in that 'alien' cave, it doesn't feel right. I've not yet found any benefits or reason to why they went with this metal, though it feels more durable, lighter than most alloys. Oddly enough, it works just like any other arm, it reacts instantly to my brains commands, I'm impressed, but not with the side effects.

From what I've been able to gather, the metal affected the melanin in my body, turning the pigment of my skin an abnormal green. I can't convey how strange the colour is, it doesn't exist in the standard colour wheel, I know that much.
My veins are incredibly prominent, they're thicker than normal, I can almost see the blood running through them. I'm scared I won't see my own blood again. The arms themselves I've barely been able to scrape, let alone puncture and bleed.

I'm not even going into any mental side effects, I can't even be sure I'm not an artificial intelligence, I can't possibly understand the extent of what the doctors did to me, not that I would want to.

I've been forced to find a new life style, hiding in the shadows, lurking in alleys, doing what I need to survive. I have to adapt. While I crave communication, this blog post is the best I could afford.
