arun, like violet, is a second-generation immigrant. he is the son of two indian immigrants and was raised in a normal, healthy environment. throughout elementary and middle school, his grades were excellent, although he almost failed math in seventh grade. arun is also athletic, but he chose to mostly play four square in elementary in middle school. in middle school, after being separated from his friends from elementary school, arun met august and violet. im going to be honest arun and violet literally crushed on each other since 6th grade but yk what im not going to blame them bc crush confessions are cringy 99% of the time ok anyways

the trio continued to do everything together until their freshman year of high school, when arun's older sister, aanya, suddenly died. arun was the one to find her body. he had a younger and older sister and was very close with both of them; his parents claim they never fought as children. the investigation concluded that aanya's death was by suicide, but arun believes it was murder by the work of a conidae agent; thus, he did his best in every aspect of school and extracurriculars in order to be recruited into conidae. he was successful, being recruited in the middle of his freshman year of high school and leaving with the excuse of switching schools. his parents were told that he was being recruited into a selective internship for a tech company. shortly after completing his training, arun defected to the enemy organization.

arun dropped all contact with august and violet after being recruited by conidae. in all honesty, he forgot and felt like it would be too awkward to reach out after so long. frankly, he's almost relieved that they don't talk anymore because of the risk they might be in due to arun's status as a mole. still, he wishes he could talk to them every day, living a relatively lonely life since his job is to spy on his peers, not to make friends with them. in conidae, arun isn't super quiet and seems quite outgoing, but he keeps his distance.

being a part of both conidae and its enemy organization actually pays pretty well, so he lives comfortably working as a librarian (WHICH ALSO HAPPENS TO BE REALLY CLOSE TO WHERE AUGUST AND VIOLET LIVE BC HE LIVES SOOOO CLOSE TO THEM BUT THEYRE ALL OBLIVIOUS SMH) in his spare time. also draws dinosaurs and sticks the good ones up on a wall which is very cool
