This is Balsa from the anime "Moribito". She is a fierce spear wielding warrior who takes a job as a bodyguard for the youngest prince (Chagum) in a neighboring country in order to appease the soul of someone she killed. She cares for him as if he was her own. (I'm only a few episodes in, so this is all I know, sorry!)
